Ten-year-old Labradoodle Monty always loved going for hikes up hills and mountains.
So when his beloved pet became sick, Carlos Fresco knew that the dog would need one last trek.
The pair had visited the Brecon Beacons (The Brecon Beacons are a mountain range in South Wales).The two hiked non stop over the years summiting the three peaks together.
It was clearly a favorite spot for MONTY! As a dog lover and owner of one or more dogs since I was a kid, this touched my heart. Carlos talked about the situation "I knew Monty was dying as his cancer had returned,' said Carlos. 'He was diagnosed 18 months ago and responded very well to chemotherapy.
‘But unfortunately his Leukaemia returned eight weeks ago and he declined very rapidly.
Monty was THAT special dog. Those are the animals that if your lucky come into your world once in a lifetime. Those of you that have been lucky enough to experience it know what I mean. For Carlos, he'll always compare every other dog to Monty. Just like I compare every pug I own to my boy Charlie. I'm sure like Charlie, Monty had human sole too. RIP boy.
