Pompano Beach, FL - Deputies in South Florida are searching for the man responsible for an attack on a 63-year-old patron at the AMC Pompano Beach 18 movie theater earlier this month.
The incident occurred on July 10th when the victim, who had purchased VIP tickets allowing him to choose specific seats for himself and his wife, asked the suspect and his companion to move from their seats.
However, the suspect became hostile and confronted the victim, getting dangerously close and forcing the victim to step back, which resulted in the victim losing his balance and falling down the stairs in the aisle of the theater.
The suspect then repeatedly punched the 63-year-old victim in the face.
Witnesses rushed to the victim's aid and pulled the assailant off of him, allowing the suspect and his companion to flee the theater.
The victim suffered severe injuries and had to be taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts is urged to contact BSO Violent Crimes Detective Lacey Fitzpatrick at 954-601-5905 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
