The drum set and rack used by Def Leppardâs Rick Allen during the Hysteria tour is being auctioned via the online music marketplace Reverb. This was the tour that marked his comeback in 1987, after losing his arm in a car accident. At last check on the bids, the Simmons drum set was up to nearly $31,000.
In December of 84, Allen lost his arm after he was thrown through the sunroof of his car, and his left arm got caught in the seatbelt when it came undone during the crash. As a result, the arm was severed from his body. Initially, doctors reattached the arm but they would eventually have to amputate because of an infection.
