Florida Man Loses Arm After 10.5-Foot Gator Attacks Outside Of Bar

A 23-year-old Port Charlotte man had his arm ripped off by a 10-and-a-half-foot alligator behind a bar in Port Charlotte called Banditos Bar.

According to MensJournal.com, the victim, Jordan Rivera, saw that that bathroom lines were long and took it upon himself to skip the line by wandering outside to pee in a pond behind the bar. That's the last thing he remembers, as he somehow fell into the pond and woke up in the hospital missing an arm.

A trapper later removed a 10-and-a-half-foot alligator from the pond, which was humanely killed.

It is worth noting that feeding alligators is prohibited. Such behavior can lead to alligators losing their natural fear of humans and associating them with a source of food.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission urges people to report instances of alligators being fed. The commission can be reached at 888-404-FWCC and more information can be found on their website.
