A USFL Player Was Fired for Wanting Pizza Instead of Chicken Salad

Former Michigan State running back DE'VEON SMITH was FIRED by the Pittsburgh Maulers for disagreeing with the team's meal choice.

Apparently, Smith was offered chicken salad by a staffer, but he didn't want it. He asked if he could have a slice of their pizza instead. The guy who'd served him said no, and asked if that would be a problem. Smith said YES, then walked away.

And that was enough to get him bounced. In a video released by the USFL, coach Kirby Wilson explains that Smith violated a team rule against disrespecting, quote, "football or members, staff, USFL, hotel, etc."

It also shows Kirby telling Smith he's fired . . . and basically refusing to let Smith tell his side of the story.

The online consensus seems to be that this is a pretty ridiculous reason to fire someone.
