Elon Musk Wants to Buy Twitter, and Tom Brady is already asking a favor!
ELON MUSK is now trying to buy Twitter. Not for the money, but to make it more FREE; "My strong intuitive sense is that having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization."
After acquiring a stake in Twitter, ELON MUSK now wants to buy the whole thing for $43 billion. And during a talk yesterday, he explained that he's not in it for the money . . . it's about FREEDOM.
Musk's proposal was revealed early Thursday morning in a securities filing, which included text messages that Musk had sent to Twitter’s board chair Bret Taylor. “After the past several days of thinking this over, I have decided I want to acquire the company and take it private,” Musk texted Taylor. “Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it.”
He said, quote, "This is not a way to make money, my strong intuitive sense is that having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization, I don't care about the economics at all."
He added that Twitter should comply with America's free speech protections, but not go further. Quote, "If in doubt, let the speech exist. If someone you don't like is allowed to say something you don’t like, it's damn annoying. .."[But] when someone you don't like says something you don't like, that is a function of a healthy free speech situation."
Musk has already hit a road block in the form of a Saudi Arabian Prince named Alwaleed bin Talal, who owns a significant piece of Twitter. They ended up in a back-and-forth after the prince said Elon's bid is way too low.
After the announcement was made Tom Brady chimed in asking Elon for a favor in the tweet "If you buy twitter can you delete the combine photo?@elonmusk"
