When Florida State football gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
Specifically, you make lemonade to help pay for head coach Willie Taggart’s $17 million buyout.
That’s what 4-year-old Grayton Grant did when setting up a “Free Willie” lemonade stand outside of his grandmother’s Tallahassee home. He raised $241 in just under three hours.
Great start, Grayton – only $16,999,759 more to go!
The four-year-old charged $20 per cup before running out of lemonade in the sunny, 90-degree weather.
One customer even donated $100.
Grayton’s father matched his total haul, stroking a check for $482 to Seminole Boosters, Inc.
The Seminoles have struggled under Taggart, who is in the second year of his six-year contract that pays him $30 million. FSU lost to number 22 ranked Virginia 31-24, dropping to 1-2 on the season. The Noles are 6-9 overall under Taggert.
If fired by FSU, Taggart would still be owed 80% of his remaining salary balance.
“I hope what I did helped because it was really hot,” Grayton said of his fundraising effort that was posted and widely shared on social media.
