Jagger Says Stones To Tour In 2027
A Rolling Stones residency may not happen, as Mick Jagger previously suggested. However, the music icon has assured fans that the legendary rock band will, indeed, tour in 2027. "I'd love to tour this album," Jagger recently told Argentinian radio station La Nacion of the band's upcoming new album, Foreign Tongues. "Can't wait to sing. There are so many songs on the album that we could do on stage. So, I don't think we'll be touring this year, but I hope to tour next year, and I hope to do it as soon as possible." After previously being asked whether the rock band would be open to a Las Vegas residency, Jagger clarified the group would be open to doing multiple shows in a few select cities. The band's upcoming new LP, Foreign Tongues, drops July 10.
DEEP PURPLE: Haven't Gone Splat! Yet
Despite announcing their Long Goodbye tour in 2016, Deep Purple have no plans to announce a final tour or show. Bassist Roger Glover tells Australia's Noise11.com, "We ain't gonna stop. We're not gonna have a final tour, a final gig... Although that was actually [our former guitarist] Steve Morse's suggestion years ago, which is why we started calling it The Long Goodbye tour. Well, 'The Long Goodbye' got longer and longer, and we decided to ditch that in the end. "I can't imagine doing a final gig, with all the hoopla involved. The emotion, the place, the fans, the sorrow, etc. It would be too much to bear. And I think we all feel the same. We're just gonna carry on till we can't. That's it." Purple just released Splat!, their 24th studio album, last Friday, and they're on tour with dates this week in Spain. They start their U.S. run with Kansas opening on August 4th in Raleigh, North Carolina.
DEF LEPPARD: Fast and Pretentious
The new album Def Leppard are recording will be "very varied." That's what singer Joe Elliott told Oüi FM in France, adding, "We've got about 18 songs. So we've kind of got nearly two albums. We're not gonna put all 18 on the album. We're gonna pick and choose which 10 or 11 we think are the right ones. So, yeah, we've got some great songs... "We've written the fastest song we've ever done. And we've also written the most ridiculously over-the-top, pretentious, massive, big, kind of bombastic song that we've ever written, too, and lots of stuff in between. So it's very varied. It's a very eclectic collection of tunes... So, yeah, we're working on it actively. We're touring this summer, and we'll be working on the album up to going on tour and then when we come off. So we need to get it finished by the end of the summer for an early release next year." It will be their first album since 2022's Diamond Star Halos. Def Leppard will perform in Paris this Wednesday.

ELTON JOHN: "Farewell" Doesn't Mean Farewell
Elton John is once again reminding us that "farewell" seems to be the hardest word. After wrapping up his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour three years ago this Wednesday -- July 8th, 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden -- he's now announced two more "Farewell" performances -- October 2nd and 3rd in Mexico City. Commenting on these supposedly one-off shows, he says, "Mexico City has always held a special place in my heart. I was truly disappointed that the pandemic kept me from touring Latin America during my Farewell tour, which makes this return especially meaningful. I’m thrilled to finally share this very special moment with my fans after all these years.” Elton's last performance in Mexico's capital was in 2012 when he played there with percussionist Ray Cooper. And while this doesn't mean Elton will return to the road, he also announced his retirement in 1977, but that only lasted 15 months. By the way, here's what Elton told us in 2018 when we reminded him of some of other artists like The Who,
KISS, Deep Purple, the Eagles and Scorpions, who announced farewell tours, but kept going. "I don't want to be one of those people. If I do, shoot me."
