THE KILLERS, PHIL COLLINS: A "Paradise" Battle?

We've never known Brandon Flowers of The Killers to have any beef with two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Phil Collins, but apparently there is one that relates to the song "Another Day in Paradise." That track was released in October 1989 as the first single from Collins' fourth solo album ...But Seriously and spent four weeks at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1989 and January 1990. In 1991 "Another Day in Paradise" won the Grammy for Record of the Year.

Flowers has a track called "Paradise" on his solo album Thrasher that's due out on August 21st. Flowers posted artwork for that track on his social media and wrote, "Back in October ‘89, Phil Collins took 'Another Day In Paradise' from the working man. This Friday the 17th, I’ll be returning it to its rightful owner.” We'll all hear what Flowers is talking about on Friday.

HALESTORM: Lzzy Encourages Women to Pick Up Guitars

Halestorm's Lzzy Hale used the opening of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's The Women In Metal: You Will Know My Name exhibition to encourage girls and women to "make noise, start the band".

Before playing an acoustic set with her bandmate Joe Hottinger at the museum in Cleveland on Friday, Hale gave a speech where she said, "I want to speak directly to the young girl who might walk through this exhibit tomorrow. Maybe she's holding a guitar for the first time. Maybe she's writing songs in her bedroom. Maybe she's being told that she doesn't fit the mold. Good. Because metal was never built for moulds. It was built for the people who refuse to fit inside them. "So take up space, make noise, write the song, start the band, miss the note, try again. But don't ever give up. Because when someone dares tell you that you don't belong here, remember something. We are not asking for a seat at the table, we are building the next table."
