Weâre not sure howâŻsomeone actually steals a 200 foot radio tower, but it happened in Alabama.
WJLX-AM has been off the air since Feb. 2, when a landscaping crew visited the site where the tower is supposed to be for routine maintenance. One of the crew called general manager Brett Elmore to report the find. Elmore explains âWhen he arrived, he called me on Friday and said, âThe tower is gone. I said, âWhat do you mean the tower is gone â are you sure you are at the right place?â He said: âNo, the tower is gone. There are wires everywhere and itâs gone.â A Facebook post by the station says âThey stole every piece of equipment out of the building, cut the guy wires to the tower and SOMEHOW managed to down a 200Ⲡtower and take it from the property.â
The equipment was not insured, so the station has opened a GoFundMe to replace the equipment.Â
