Southwest Airlines Flight heading from Cuba to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida had to make an emergency landing back in Havana. A bird struck the plane and one of the two engines caught fire, filling the cabin with smoke.
A Southwest spokesperson confirmed the story saying "Southwest flight #3923 departing Havana, Cuba, for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday morning reportedly experienced bird strikes to an engine and the aircraft’s nose shortly after takeoff.”
Cellphone video from inside the cabin shows passengers panicking as the oxygen masks dropped for them to wear. Passengers say not all the masks deployed and some got bloody knuckles from pounding where they come out. One woman was said to have a head injury.
