He's been teaching in a Russia school for some time and upon coming back from the states he was busted. No one is crying out for his release. No One is trying to hustle murderous arms dealers for him. What makes Brittney so important?
Marc Fogel was sentenced to 14 years of hard labor in Russia last month for having medical marijuana, drawing comparisons to WNBA star Britney Griner. But the 61-year-old was not mentioned in the proposed prisoner swap that could free Griner and former marine Paul Whelan.
He's not important because he's not a "celebrity" or a former US service member?
If she's being held unfairly, what about the American people who are being held on marijuana charges? Non violent folks who got popped with less than an ounce of mary jane? It will be interesting to see how this all ends. But if we're this upset about Ms. Griner, shouldn't we be upset about Marc too???
As of this morning The U.S. says it will "pursue" Russia's offer to discuss a prisoner swap for Brittney Griner.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken made that vow today at a foreign minister's meeting in Cambodia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is also at the meeting, and said earlier in the day that Russia is ready to discuss a trade deal for Griner through the proper diplomatic channels.
Blinken later confirmed that Russia is "prepared to engage" and added, "we'll be pursuing that." The WNBA star was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison yesterday for having a small amount of cannabis oil in her luggage at a Moscow airport.
