Lawyer Carrie Jernigan, an influencer with over 1.2 million followers on TikTok, recently shared the reason folks need avoid self-checkout.
She says it gives stores the chance to use security footage to accuse customers of stealing.
She says even truly innocent people get accused, and stores don’t have to show much proof to get an arrest, which results in people having to spend thousands to hire a lawyer to prove their innocence.
I don't know about this. I mean you do get a receipt for the items you purchased and if their video recording your transaction it has to be clear to STOLE something. I don't use it for a different reason, THE BAGGING AREA. I mean how in the Hell is anyone supposed to bag a bunch of groceries in that little square area? Every time I move a bag to the cart it set off an alarm and I have to put it back. Now if you asking "why would you take a full cart to a self checkout, it's because at my store now the other 11 lanes are normally closed but TWO and they're already jammed so this is my option.
I think it's crap and a bunch of nonsense but stores have you over a barrel because what are you going to do right??
