On June 21st, Starbucks added the Chicken, Maple Butter, and Egg Sandwich to their food menu. Less than a week later, it was quietly pulled. New reports say the decision was made after an influx of customers and employees claimed that sandwich routinely came with a side of diarrhea.
Other complaints included the presence of “chicken bones” and “being ice cold in the middle,” but getting the runs was apparently a clear deal breaker.
Some of the posts included “Suing for the worst diarrhea of my life. i have been living in my bathroom for 2 days now,” posted one victim on TikTok on June 28. Another wrote, “Had it last Wednesday… super sick… tested positive for campylobacter (food poisoning caused by raw chicken) Sunday.”
