Say what you want about New Yorkers, but in times of need they know how to come together for the greater good.
Saturday night, on the 42nd anniversary of the 1977 Blackout in NYC, they were once again in darkness.
Some people were trapped in subways, on elevators or simply home in darkness on the Westside of Manhattan.
A few good samaritans took to the streets to direct traffic as the traffic lights were also out.
Some used their cell phones and some used actual light sabers to direct traffic.
The outage lasted for three hours and was caused by a mechanical problem. By 10pm all was restored.
Maybe this is where they got the idea??
