ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Flu season is settling in with a vengeance in much of Florida.
Latest surveillance numbers from the Florida Department of Health show positives more than doubling in the third week of January, compared with the third week of November.
Dr. Eric Shamas with Orlando Health Bayfront hospital in St. Petersburg, says there are pockets with higher flu rates including Pinellas County.
Dr. Shamas says recent colder than normal temperatures have been driving people indoors and helping to spread flu viruses.
