A convicted cop killer now knows his fate after a judge handed down her decision Thursday morning in Orlando. Judge Leticia Marques sentenced Markeith Loyd to death. Loyd was convicted in the 2017 murder of Orlando police Lieutenant Debra Clayton. The judge's decision followed an earlier recommendation of death by the jury.
Loyd was found guilty on five charges, including first-degree murder, in the shooting death of Clayton while on the run for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon. Loyd has already been sentenced to life in prison for Dixon's murder.
