Tampa's Top 50 Cheap Eats

Tampa Bay Times food critic, Laura Reiley put together a great list of the top 50 cheap eats in the Bay area.  Trying to go out to eat and stick around the $10 per meal price line, and get quality, at times can seem like an impossible task. But now with new restaurants popping up catering to the price conscientious demo, and existing establishments revamping menus and focusing on price and quality, the dream is very much a live.  For me, some of my favorite places that are pretty good on the pocket book would be Engine Number 9 on MLK downtown St Pete. Not only is the ambiance cool for a fellow rocker but the burgers are out of this world.  They have an amazing beer selection (Highly suggest the Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter), and if juicy beef isn't your thing, they have a great spicy tuna plate and veggie options as well.  In Tampa, at least once a month I make the trek from the beach to Ichicoro Ramen on N. Florida Ave. I consider myself quite worldly when it comes to ramen, having lived in Japan for almost 3 years, it's one of my fave dishes. As Laura Reiley pointed out, when it comes to ramen in Tampa, Ichicoro in my opinion sets the standard. Other stand outs for me, Engine Rose (Same owners as Engine Number 9) on Central in St Pete, and if your heading to the beach be sure to stop at VIP for Mexican in Treasure Island, and Willys in St Pete Beach. Get the blackened scallops. Click the link above and check Laura's top 50 list to find great places in your area. Cuz eatin cheap aint' easy!
