Bills Safety Demar Hamlin Collapses on MNF and is in Critical Condition

DEMAR HAMLIN COLLAPSES ON FIELD, HOSPITALIZED IN CRITICAL CONDITION AS BILLS VS BENGALS POSTPONED

Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field, was administered CPR and then was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition. The NFL also postponed the game between Buffalo and the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night until further notice.

Hamlin took a big hit in the chest area on a tackle in the first quarter of Buffalo's game on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin got hit by Bengals receiver Tee Higgins as Higgins ran upfield after a catch. Hamlin got up, then suddenly collapsed.

Damar Hamlin, who is 24 years old, was a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft out of Pittsburgh. He became a starter in Week 3 this season and has been a starter for the Bills since then.

Hamlin had just tackled receiver Tee Higgins. He hopped back to his feet, then fell straight backwards. CPR was administered for several minutes, before Hamlin was taken by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

As of last night, he was in critical condition, but there's still no word what happened. Hamlin is 24 years old.

At around 10:00 p.m. Eastern, the decision was made NOT to resume the game, which the Bengals were leading 7 to 3. There's no word yet on rescheduling or resuming.

Bills receiver Stefon Diggs actually took an uber to the hospital to be with Hamlin. A cop on the site almost didn't let him in. Luckily, an ESPN reporter was there to vouch for him.

If anything good can be said to have come from this, here it is: Hamlin was raising money for a toy drive on GoFundMe. His goal was $2,500 . . . but as of last night, it had received well over 3 MILLION DOLLARS in donations.
