Former New England Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with WWE, according to FS1's WWE Backstage program.
Gronk may make his WWE debut as soon as the March 20 edition of Smackdown.
Gronk is no stranger to the ring. He took part in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.
During the match, the tight end jumped a barricade to help wrestler Mojo Rawley win the match.
The question of Gronk's involvement with the WWE came up in August. Gronkowski said he'd be interested in doing one big WWE match in "maybe five years" but he didn't see himself as a full-time wrestler.
