"I've gone ahead and declared a local disaster in the city, and, associated with that, have issued an order that effectively cancels South by Southwest this year," Austin Mayor Steve Adler told reporters Friday afternoon.
Declaring a LOCAL DISASTER?? Just to stop this from happening? People are still going to go out. People are still coming to your town because it's too late to cancel their plane tickets. This is getting out of hand quickly and WILL have serious impact on our economy if you tell people just to stay home and live in fear.

"We are devastated to share this news with you,We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation."
Suddenly we may not have to worry about a busy concert season after all. People will go stir crazy.
