55 Year Old Hockey Team Owner Suits Up And Plays To Help Injury Filled Team

The owner of a New York hockey team was willing to do anything to help his team - even suit up and hit the ice himself.

55-year-old Robbie Nichols did just that over the weekend, for his Elmira Enforcers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

With his team down six players due to injury, Nichols - a former Flyers draft pick who hasn't played in 25 years - suited up as an emergency option. He ended up playing six shifts in the game and was even called for a roughing penalty in the second period.

Nichols says it's possible he'll play again this season - but told his team's media department to stop comparing him to Gordie Howe, who played in six different decades.
