Orange County's mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings is experiencing mild symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19 last night. The mayor will work from home and follow CDC guidelines until it's safe to return to the office. Mayor Demings is fully vaccinated and has received the booster.

Demings' wife, Congresswoman Val Demings, tested negative.

Meanwhile, Orange County's Health Director is also away from the office. Dr. Raul Pino is on administrative leave while state Health officials investigate whether he may have tried to coerce employees of the County Health Department to get vaccinated. In an email to Health Department staff, Dr. Pino called their vaccination rate 'pathetic.'

State Health officials are trying to determine if Dr. Pino may have broken any laws.
