Eleven Dead Puppies Found at Hernando Kennel Operator Arrested

Brooksville, Fl.(Florida News Network)- Disturbing case of animal abuse at a kennel in Hernando County. Sheriff's Office says the operator of Golden Kennel in Brooksville, Jian Karlos Ortiz Mendez, has been charged with 11 counts of aggravated animal cruelty and is facing the loss of his kennel license after nearly a dozen dead puppies were discovered in garbage cans on the property. Deputies say they had received information about puppies sold from the kennel, and then dying of Canine parvovirus days later. Eight puppies were seized by deputies and sent to local vets for treatment. Close to 140 others are still at the property under the care of kennel staff.
