Florida Reports Lowest Number Of New COVID-19 Cases Since June

Florida is reporting fewer than 5,000 new coronavirus cases.

The 4,452 new COVID-19 infections is the lowest since nearly 3,300 cases were reported on June 23rd. However, it's unclear if the numbers are affected by the closure of most of the state-run testing sites over the weekend due to Tropical Storm Isaias.

Florida is coming off its deadliest week of the pandemic in which the state Department of Health announced more than 1,200 deaths.

The state announced 73 new resident deaths, bringing the number of lives lost to the virus to more than 7,100.
