Warning Out About Rent Scam Tied To COVID-19 Economic Struggles

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning on a scam attempting to capitalize on residents’ economic hardships.

Yesterday was the first day of the month, which means rent was due for a lot of local residents and officials say someone has been calling members of the community, asking for their personal information to help with RENT payments.

The Sheriff’s Office says this is a scam.

Never give out your personal information over the phone to anyone claiming to assist you with your rent payments.

PBSO also says that if you receive a call like this or any other scam, contact Palm Beach County Crimestoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS, or you can remain anonymous by downloading their new app “PBSO” and using the “See Something” feature.
