New COVID-19 Test Site Coming To Southern Palm Beach County

Gov. Ron DeSantis

More than 500 tests are expected to be administered in day two of COVID-19 testing at the new site in West Palm Beach, where about 255 people were processed on Tuesday.

The lines were piling up at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches and that's expected to continue for some time.

Meanwhile, Governor Ron DeSantis says another test site will soon be opening in Palm Beach County.

"We're also going to pushing down supplies and assisting with an additional testing site in southern Palm Beach County."

That's something that State Representative Emily Slosberg of Boca Raton has been waiting to hear.

She says she sent a letter to the governor's office several days ago, asking for a new drive-through testing site in her district.

"This is an area where the second oldest demographic lives in the state of Florida and I think it's vital, it's crucial."

The Democrat thanked the governor for his "continued leadership as we work to combat the spread of the virus."

One of the potential places where the new site could open is the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach, which appears to be Slosberg's favorite option.

Slosberg's statement:

“I want to thank Governor DeSantis for realizing the need for additional COVID-19 testing sites in South Palm Beach County. I also want to thank him for his continued leadership as we work to combat the spread of the virus in our communities. After sending Governor DeSantis several letters requesting a test site in my district, I am glad to see some action. I am confident that we can get a test site opened in Delray Beach or Boca Raton, hopefully within the next week."
