More than a hundred homeless people living in a park in Palm Beach County will soon be moved into a facility that used to be a jail.
The county voted this week to repurpose the detention center near the South Florida Fairgrounds into a temporary homeless shelter.
Now, a non-profit wants to spend $300,000 on offering the residents job assistance.
"We can help them (on) how to do a job search. We register them on the Employ Florida State Jobs database. We help them with things like soft skills, job interview training and things like that."
Tom Veenstra, Vice President of Administration with CareerSource Palm Beach County says the homeless problem is statewide.
"A lot of Floridians are looking right now at Palm Beach County to see how they are handling this particular situation."
CareerSource, which has chapters across Florida, is teaming up with another non-profit, The Lord's Place, to get the homeless and those who've served time ready for employment.
The plan is being voted on by the organization's board of directors on Thursday.
