Public Hemp Workshop In Broward Being Held Today

To push is on to regulate hemp in Florida and the public has its first chance to weigh in on the proposed rules at a workshop at Broward College in Pembroke Pines this morning. The rules would require testing and purity standards for growers and packaging and labeling requirements for food containing hemp or its extract CBD. The hemp must contain less than 0.3% THC, which is the ingredient that makes you high. Cannabis Czar Holly Bell says they're getting advice from 13 states running successful hemp programs, raking in one-billion-dollars in annual sales. The hemp bill is now sitting on the governor's desk. He can sign, veto or allow it to become law without his signature. The public can weigh in on the draft today or at other workshops planned for Tampa Friday and Tallahassee Monday.
