Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and a couple different research agencies decided to find out each state's favorite romantic comedy. This could be especially helpful if you're scrambling to figure out what movie to play after bringing your Valentine's date back home.
According to Google Trends, 1999's Notting Hill is the most searched-for romantic comedy for Florida over the last 12 months.
The study stated that the states that loved rom-coms the most were Alaska, D.C., Maine, Utah and Vermont. All of those states appeared at the top of the list for more than one movie, according to the study.
Many states chose movies that were set right in their state including Alaska, California, New York Pennsylvania and Washington.

But when you ask people what their favorite romantic comedy is, you get a very different result...
After surveying over 4,500 Americans, House Method determined that Florida (and 18 other states') favorite romantic comedy is The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Even though “40-Year-Old Virgin” dominated most states, there’s no doubt that America has other favorites as well. “Bridesmaids” was only 2.55% behind in overall votes. Additionally, even though “13 Going on 30” won in the state-by-state votes, “Wedding Crashers” actually had more votes overall. In a similar sense, “Love Actually” was only voted most popular in Hawaii, yet it was voted by 4.95% of Americans overall.
