In Australia, a 24 year old is lucky to be alive all thanks to his Apple Watch. Mike Love received a warning from the watch indicating that his resting heart rate was 140 beats per minute, which is well above normal, so he went to a doctor to get it checked out.
They ended up finding a hole in Love’s heart, as well as a lung condition which is a result from his heart condition.
The Apple Watch ultimately saved Love's life, and doctors used a daVinci robot to perform a minimally invasive heart surgery.
“I don’t think I’d live without one now,” Love said ”I love it for the convenience but also the fact it just picked up something medically that I had no idea about and it potentially saved my life.”
Love is currently working on a degree in robotics.
