Last week I told you that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr used previously-recorded material (and a little help from AI) to bring the world one more song from The Beatles called “Now And Then.” And with the help of one iconic Hollywood director, they didn’t stop there.
“Lord Of The Rings” filmmaker Peter Jackson, who previously directed a doc about The Beatles, helmed a video to go along with the track. “To be honest, while we hope we’ve given The Beatles a suitable final farewell, that’s something you’ll need to decide for yourselves,” said the Oscar-winner in a statement. “I have genuine pride in what we made, and I’ll cherish that for years to come.”
And though he's called "Now And Then" a "farewell," he still passed along some reasonable hope for fans, saying there could be room for new Beatles music in the future. “We can take a performance from (Beatles’ doc) ‘Get Back,’ separate John and George, then have Paul and Ringo add a chorus or harmonies,” teased the filmmaker. He admits saying that is “fanboy stuff” but quickly added it’s “certainly conceivable.”
Watch the video for “Now And Then,” and try not to get a little teary-eyed
