While you may be planning to ring in the New Year with a bang, your pets would prefer a more low key evening at home.
According to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri's Director of Development Jennifer Sokolowski, many dogs go missing when the sky lights up. Sokolowski reveals that about 300 dogs are brought to her, but thankfully most are returned safely due to their microchips.
The best advice is to keep the dog indoors and supervised. Ol' Fido and his friends have been known to jump over or wiggle under fences.
But don't tie Rover up as the dog could injure itself. If your pet has a fear of loud noises, you probably should stay home as well.
