A Georgia sheriff is making sure that sex offenders can't interact with children this Halloween by warning the community of the person's status. Signs that read "No Trick-Or-Treat At This Address" have been placed on the offenders' property in accordance with a state law that reads, "the sheriff shall inform the public of the presence of sexual offenders in each community."
While Sheriff Gary Long admits, "There are some sex offenders that are not happy," he stands by the action telling a local TV station, "I'm in the business of keeping safe communities and making sure that our children are protected."Elsewhere in Georgia, the mayor of Grovetown released a statement last week detailing plans to temporarily relocate sex offenders for the holiday.
