Bucs Go Defense In Second Round, Take Minnesota Safety Winfield

After taking a big ugly with their first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked on the other side of the football to begin the second night of the selection meeting.

The Buccaneers returned to the Big Ten Friday, selecting Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. with the 45th overall selection.

Winfield, the son of former NFL defensive back Antoine Winfield Sr., was a unanimous All-American selection and was named the 2019 Big Ten defensive back of the year. In 12 games with the Golden Gophers, he had 83 tackles, 58 solo, along with three sacks, two forced fumbles and seven interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
