Cubs Edge Out Rays Again

The Chicago Cubs (24-30) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (39-18) 2-1 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.

It was a second straight rough night for the Rays offense in Chicago, as the only run they got came on a RBI single from Randy Arozarena in the fifth inning that tied the game 1-1. For Arozarena, it was his 40th RBI of the season.

The Cubs were able to answer in the sixth inning - moments after a play wasn't made by either second baseman Brandon Lowe or right fielder Josh Lowe that allowed a baseball to drop, Mike Tauchman drove in what would prove to be the winning run.

Shane McClanahan (8-1, 2.07) was the tough luck loser for the Rays, allowing two earned runs in five and two-third innings of work in which he allowed six hits while striking out seven and walking two

The Rays will look to salvage the series finale and avoid being swept on Wednesday afternoon. Zach Eflin is scheduled to start for the Rays, while lefthander Justin Steele is expected to start for the Cubs. First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and Zac Blobner hosting the Inside Pitch at 1:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
