Parkland School Shooter Sentencing Jury Seated

Jury selection in the Parkland school shooter sentencing trial is over. Attorneys have seated a panel comprised of seven men and five women who will determine whether Nikolas Cruz is executed or spends his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Judge Elizabeth Scherer is calling for eight alternates to be selected as well; the search for those people continues.

Cruz, 23, pleaded guilty to opening fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018 killing 17 students and staffers and wounding 17 others.

Jury selection began nearly 3 months ago and involved some 1,500 people being interviewed.
