Miami Beach Commissioners Discuss Possible Curfew Ahead Of Memorial Day

Nine days after the Miami-Dade midnight curfew expires-- Miami Beach Commissioners are already discussing imposing one for Memorial Day Weekend. With the influx of tourists, the return of the Air and Sea Show plus a public concert, Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber wants to take a preemptive strike against midnight madness with a holiday curfew. But Commissioner Ricky Arriola says not only would a curfew be premature-there's proof curfews don't help curb behavior. Along with the curfew, Commissioners are also discussing the 12-point plan on how best to turn the Entertainment District into a Cultural Arts hub. One idea is a permanent 2 a.m. curfew there.
