How to Sign Up for Vaccines at Tampa FEMA Site

TAMPA -- Information has been released about the new FEMA vaccination site opening up in Tampa Wednesday.

FEMA Region IV deputy administrator Robert Samaan says anyone who'd like to schedule an appointment at the Tampa Greyhound Track should call (866) 200-3896 or go to the state's website, myvaccine.fl.gov . FEMA says walkups will be accepted also.

The site will administer 2,000 doses per day, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vaccinations at the Tampa site will be Pfizer-only.

FEMA will also operate several satellite clinics aimed at underserved communities. Dates and locations:

March 3-6 Larry Sands Sports Center, 5855 S. 78th Street (Progress Village)

March 3-10 Lake Maud Park, 751 7th Street NW (Winter Haven)

March 7-10 HCC-Brandon campus

Tampa Family Health Centers is also planning to announce two drive-through sites aimed at underserved communities, starting as soon as Thursday.

FEMA says these are part of a "hub and spoke" system that should be able to administer about 3,000 shots per day total.

The FEMA site and satellite sites will follow Governor DeSantis' guidelines, limiting vaccinations to those over 65 and to school employees and first responders over age 50 as well as certain medical personnel.

The federal government will handle 100 percent of staffing at the FEMA site, using the US Air Force for support.

The Tampa FEMA site is one of four operating in Florida. Others are in Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville.
