Actress Sally Kirkland has entered hospice care amid her ongoing battle with dementia, her rep, Michael Greene, confirmed to TMZ on Sunday (November 9).

Kirkland, 84, entered hospice at a hospital in Palm Springs, California, having been diagnosed with dementia in 2024, and her close friend and former student, Cody Galloway, is reportedly by her side. An update on the GoFundMe fundraiser launched by the actress' friends in November 2024 to help pay for her "urgent medical care" needs confirmed that Kirkland was in hospice care.

“Thank you for all your love and support. Sally is grateful for your kindness and love,” an update from the GoFundMe states. “Sally is on hospice now and is resting comfortably. Please hold and send the light for Sally.”

The GoFundMe account initially revealed that Kirkland was dealing with "two separate life-threatening infections" when it was launched in November 2024.

"This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections. The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover," the GoFundMe states.

Kirkland is credited for more than 250 film and television roles and was once a member of Andy Warhol's Factory circle during her 60-year acting career. The actress is best known for her role in the 1987 comedy drama Anna, which won her a Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award and earned an Academy Award nomination.

Kirkland was also credited for roles in the films Bruce Almighty, Cold Feet, Best of the Best and JFK, as well as television roles on Charlie's Angels, Roseanne, Murder, She Wrote, The Nanny, Felicity and Days of Our Lives.
