LISTEN: Pandemic Moves Tampa's '21 Pirate Parades to Spring

TAMPA -- The COVID-19 pandemic forces Tampa's Gasparilla parade to move from winter to spring next year.

Tampa's pirates will hit the streets in the spring instead of January. The children's gasparilla parade moves to April 10th, and the grownup Pirate Fest moves to April 17th.

Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and Event Fest say the move was made after consulting with healthcare experts and city leadership. The main Gasparilla parade is one of the biggest events of its kind in the nation... and in its history has been postponed or cancelled several times... including the influenza pandemic years of 1918 and 1919.

Tickets for the Children's Gasparilla and Gasparilla Pirate Fest are on sale at GasparillaTreasures.com.
