Billy Joel Spotted Cleaning Up Hometown Beach

Just a matter of hours after rocking Madison Square Garden for the 63rd consecutive month in a row, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel went to the beach.

But rather than spend one of the warmest days of the year so far relaxing in the sand, the Piano Man was working.

Page Six reports Joel was among several volunteers who turned up to help clean the beaches of Joel's Long Island hometown of Oyster Bay, New York, on a warm but cloudy day.

"He got up early and came out on a morning with not ideal weather, and was so gracious to everyone," Town supervisor Joseph Saladino told Page Six. on Joel. "He's a big supporter of the environment."

Joel's cameo inspired volunteers to sing Joel songs all afternoon, said one participant.
