Hawaii Could Ban Cigarettes for Anyone Under 100 Years Old

Richard Creagan, a Hawaii State Congressman and ER Doc, wants to make it illegal to buy cigarettes unless you're over 100 years old.

Why?? He says it's a public health issue.

Hawaii is already home to some of the most restrictive cigarette laws in the nation.

Back in 2016, Hawaii became the first state to raise the age to buy cigarettes to 21.

If passed, this bill would raise the cigarette-purchasing age to 30 by next year, then up to age 40 in 2021, 50 in 2022, 60 in 2023, and 100 in 2024. It would not apply to e-cigs, cigars or chewing tobacco, nor would it prevent tourists from bringing cigarettes to Hawaii while on vacation.
