What started as an April Fool's Day joke turned into an album.  Probably not the first time this has happened but definitely the first time anyone has turned a joke into a Pink Floyd companion piece.

Last weekend The Flaming Lips announced a new album “Flaming Side of the Moon.”  It was to be a companion album to Pink Floyd’s “The Dark  Side of the Moon,” meant to be played simultaneously with “Dark Side” and to sync perfectly with “The Wizard of Oz.”

Speculation immediately began that it was an April Fools’ Day prank. Which it was...and then it wasn't.

They actually did it, and you can enjoy it here.
