High school teacher John T. Scopes broke the law. The press called it The Scopes Monkey Trial. He was convicted and fined $100. That's $1,422 in today's money. The law was not repealed until 1967.
38 years ago - In 1980, a gunman held up the New York office of Elektra Records,demanding to speak to The Eagles or Jackson Browne. He gave up when he was told they lived in California.
36 years ago - In 1982, "Joanie Loves Chachi", starring Erin Moran and Scott Baio, debuted on ABC.
