The Flaming Lips and Kings of Leon are teaming up to help their fellow Sooners. Both acts - who trace their origins back to Oklahoma - are set to play a benefit concert for the victims of the state's recent tornadoes.
Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said in a statement to "Tulsa World" that they hope the money raised by "Rock for Oklahoma" will help with the rebuilding process. Although the storms took place back in May, he explained the timing of the concert with a quote from Shakespeare saying, "It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after."
"Rock for Oklahoma" is scheduled to take place July 23rd in Oklahoma City, and will also feature performances from Built to Spill, Jackson Browne, and other special guests. Tickets go on sale Friday via Ticketmaster.com.
