The latest happened the area of the 6700 block of 11 Avenue North in the early morning hours of August 9th. Police say there were more than 20 car burglaries over the weekend by three different groups of youths on bicycles - all of which were unlocked cars in various neighborhoods.

Police say this has been an ongoing problem this summer. In the month of July, St. Petersburg Police made 71 arrests for auto burglaries. They say most of these arrests are youths, repeatedly trying car door handles until they find one open, and then they steal anything of value inside the cars.
