(TBO.com) - The man who was ruled not fit to stand trial on charges he abducted his children and fled to Cuba may be faking his insanity, a prosecutor said this morning.

During a hearing to determine where Joshua Hakken would be sent for for treatment, Assistant State Attorney Rita Peters told Circuit Judge Chet Tharpe she recently received Hakken’s jailhouse correspondence and phone call recordings, suggesting he is pretending to be insane.

Peters said she provided the evidence to an expert who previously found Hakken incompetent to stand trial.

The judge has set a trial date for June 16th.
