TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - In spite of the rough winter weather up north this season, the U.S. Labor Department says hiring improved with 175,000 jobs created nationwide last month.

Kim Malatesta of Incepture Staffing Agency in Tampa said winter is a good time of the year to drum up jobs in the Bay area and in Florida.

“The weather issue obviously not a factor here in Tampa that’s why people like working here, however, what it did for us when we were trying to search for clients that are looking for full time individuals we long line and can go to different states,” Malatesta said.

The nation's unemployment rate rose slightly to 6.7 percent.
