LAKE MARY, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Wildlife officials said several bears have been removed from a LakeMary neighborhood Sunday.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers shot one of the bears after it showed dangerous behavior toward them while on the scene of a recent bear attack.
Other bears appeared to be ‘highly habituated’ to people, officials said. Three that showed no fear of people were captured and put down, FWC said.
Officials said several traps are positioned in the area and they are reaching out to residents to discuss actions they can take to avoid encounters with bears.
